My shop is now OPEN!

I have designed and made every Balanced-Earth item in the shop.   There are Linnet airplant settings and Dotterel vases (Kittiwakes, Merlins, Cuckoos, Skylarks and Curlews are temporarily unavailable). I decided to name my designs after birds on the British Trust for Ornithology red list.

When walking on my usual local beach, I find bricks and tiles. They have been tumbled in the sea, softening the edges. I select pieces, I find appealing. They are the evidence of the sad tragedy of coastal erosion of the soft Norfolk cliffs and people losing homes and gardens. I match these with Suffolk driftwood. I’ve realised that there is an Ikebana influence in these pieces, a theme I continue with my flower arrangements for the photographs.

At the moment delivery is in the UK only, I will add other destinations. I can take commissions. Happy to make something especially for you.

The Jewellery category has been added while I have some stock remaining from previously working as a jewellery-designer-maker in the ‘90s. The original nylon jewellery was sold in galleries and museum shops internationally (including Guggenheim Museum, New York and the Crafts Council Gallery Shop at the V & A Museum). There is a journal story here… eventually! I have restyled some pieces from the originals. There are more to be added, until I reach the end.

Best wishes,
Karen
