Dyed gold & sepia newsprint nylon brooch

£25.00

The nylon brooch is from the Newsprint collection. Made by collaging sections of newspaper in varied font sizes and types to make a silk screen.  The old style process!  Dye resists have been screenprinted onto the nylon. Each part has been twice dyed by hand, so the text is gold-coloured with graduated sepia edging. The silver wire pin is soldered to a brass cast unit held within a small newsprint nylon section.  Nylon is semi-translucent, so the text is less visible if the brooch is worn on dark coloured clothing.

Debit/credit card and PayPal payments are accepted.  Post included in price.

This nylon brooch is from the Newsprint collection. Made by collaging sections of newspaper in varied font sizes and types to make a silk screen. The old style process! Dye resists have been screenprinted onto the nylon. Each part has been twice dyed by hand, so the text is gold-coloured with graduated sepia edging. It has a fine matt surface on one side similar in appearance to frosted glass as the nylon has been glass-bead blasted (a similar process to sand blasting but much finer).  The silver wire pin is soldered to a brass cast unit held within a small newsprint nylon section. The small cast unit has a raised bead. Nylon is semi-translucent, so the text is less visible if the brooch is worn on dark coloured clothing. 6 cm x 4.5 cm.
